20-Year-Old Rapper Pop Smoke Dies In Home Invasion Shooting

Pop Smoke, the 20-year-old rapper, was reported as dead Rolling Stone magazine has confirmed. The outlet claims that the young performing artist, née Bashar Jackson, died in a home invasion on Wednesday in the city of Los Angeles, California.

An LAPD spokesperson confirmed that officers went to the house around 4:20 am after masked men broke into the house where Pop Smoke was staying. Reportedly, the young rapper was subsequently taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

During a press conference on Wednesday, Captain Steve Lurie said there were several witnesses to the crime, and there are currently between two and six suspects in the killing. TMZ was the first to report that two men fired gunshots at the house during the home invasion.

Witnesses claim they saw men fleeing the scene of the crime, but no one has been apprehended or taken in by authorities yet. Sources who spoke with the outlet confirmed that the house is actually owned by the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, Teddi Mellencamp, as well as her husband, Edwin Arroyave.

Pop Smoke was renting the house as an Airbnb. Following the young performing artist’s death, stars such as Nicki Minaj came out to commemorate Pop Smoke, including a social media post that featured his song, “Welcome To The Party.”

On her Instagram account, Nicki Minaj wrote that the Bible tells the world that jealousy is as “cruel as the grave.” Reportedly, Pop Smoke was known for songs such as the aforementioned “Welcome To The Party,” as well as “Drive The Boat,” “Dior,” and “War.”

His first mixtape, Meet the Woo 2, dropped last week. Interestingly, the rapper was in the media headlines earlier this year when someone reported their luxury vehicle stolen. As it was previously reported, Pop Smoke agreed to use a luxury vehicle in exchange for concert tickets and VIP passes.

However, the owner of the vehicle was taken for a ride and the car subsequently disappeared.
