21 Savage Claims He Was "Targeted" By ICE In First Interview

According to rapper 21 Savage, he was actually targeted specifically by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. The 26-year-old, She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, spoke with Good Morning America just two days after he was released from a cell.

Mr. Abraham-Joseph said, “I was just driving, and I just saw guns and blue lights,” and the next thing he knew he was in federal custody. The rapper claims he heard them saying, “we got Savage.” Moreover, the Grammy nominee claims he was “definitely targeted,” because there were even helicopters on the scene.

As it was previously reported, the rapper was taken into federal custody on the 3rd of February after authorities accused the rapper of out-staying his 12-month visa issued back in 2005. Charles H. Kuck, Dina LaPolt, and Alex Spiro, the Atlanta rapper’s lawyers, said he had “won his freedom.”

On Tuesday, the attorneys-at-law said Savage had been granted release on bond. 21 Savage got a number of different shout-outs from fellow performing artists including Ludwig Goransson, who hails from Sweden, and accepted the song of the year award on Donald Glover’s behalf.

Post-Malone wore a t-shirt with 21 Savage’s name. Fans of Post know that he and the rapper actually collaborated on the song, “Rockstar,” which was one of the biggest hits last year. The star performed alongside the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Last week, it was revealed by the rapper’s legal team that he really does hail from England. The star came over from the United Kingdom with his mother in 2005. He arrived with his mother legally when he was 7-years-old.

He left again for one month to visit people in the United Kingdom, and he came back to the United States using an H-4 visa on the 22nd of July, 2005. His legal team said he has consistently been a resident of the United States for over twenty years, except for a brief visit in the UK.

However, his legal status expired in 2006, but it wasn’t his fault. His lawyer says he was detained by federal authorities on incorrect information relating to past crimes. A spokesperson for ICE said previously that Savage was violating immigrant law on the federal law as well as felony drug charges from an incident in October 2014.
