According to a report from FoxNews, Adele and her hubby, Simon Konecki, called their marriage off after seven years. The singer’s representatives released a statement to The Associated Press on Friday in which it said that Adele and her “partner” had chosen to go their separate ways.
However, “they are committed to raising their son together lovingly,” the representatives remarked. As per usual, the couple asked for privacy during this difficult time and wouldn’t be commenting on it any further.
As it was previously reported, Adele announced her marriage to Konecki, who she has known for a long time, during a concert in Brisbane, Australia, in 2017. She even thanked him during her 2017 Grammys.
She called him her husband in her speech, saying at the end of it, “Obviously, I can’t go through with those feelings because I’m married now.” Interestingly, Adele has all but disappeared from the spotlight following her massive success in the early 2010s which continued until 2015, the year of the release of her hit album, 25.
In 2015, Adele released 25 which spawned several hit singles, including, “Water Under The Bridge,” “When We Were Young,” “Send My Love,” and “Hello.” The record was on multiple year-end lists of greatest records that year, moreover, it earned awards at the Grammys as well.
But not long after, Adele announced that she was taking a break from music for a little while as well as from touring. However, a report from the New Musical Express reported in June of last year that Adele had a record coming out in December of 2019.
It’ll be her first album in four years, and after her four-year hiatus, it isn’t clear if Adele will have the same social capital and influence on pop culture as she once did.
Some fans on social media have suggested that her breakup with her husband may be somewhat of a muse for new music, despite the morally questionable nature of such a comment.
