Aleksandar Katai Fired From Soccer Team LA Galaxy After Wife's 'Racist And Violent' Posts About BLM Protesters

Aleksandar Katai, a soccer player for Los Angeles based team, LA Galaxy, has been fired over his wife’s offensive and hurtful comments on the Black Lives Matter protests happening at this time all over the country! In the aftermath, Aleksandar addressed the situation and promised to educate himself and his family more on systemic racism in the United States.

On Friday, the team released a statement that announced they had ‘mutually agreed to part ways’ with Aleksander.

This came a couple of days after LA Galaxy had also publicly addressed the woman’s posts, which, in the meantime, have been deleted.

The Associated Press reports that Tea Katai had labeled the protesters fighting for justice and equality as ‘disgusting cattle’ in Serbian, as well as used other deeply offensive and profane words to describe them and condemn their efforts.

In their statement, the team said that the comments were ‘racist and violent’ and made it very clear that they did not condone such hateful speech.

‘The LA Galaxy stands against racism of any kind, including that which suggests violence and seeks to demean all the efforts of those in pursuit of equality. The LA Galaxy stand with all communities of color, and especially the Black community, in their protests and fight against systemic racism, social inequality and violence,’ the statement reads.

At the end of the message, they announced a meeting with the player would take place to determine the next steps they would take.

Sure enough, it looks like the final decision was for Aleksander to leave the team, which it sounds like he totally agreed to.

In the aftermath, he condemned his wife’s words as ‘unacceptable.’

He added: ‘These views are not ones I share and aren’t tolerated in my family. I strongly condemn white supremacy, racism and violence towards all people of color. Black lives matter. This is a mistake of my family and I take full responsibility. I’ll ensure my family and I take the necessary actions to learn, understand and support the black community,’ he wrote in a separate, personal statement.

The soccer player went on to stress that he is determined to learn from this situation and be a ‘better ally and advocate for equality.’

In conclusion, he apologized for the posts that had caused so many people pain during these hard times.
