Alex Trebek Shares Cancer Update As He Signs Off For ‘Jeopardy’ Summer Hiatus

Jeopardy host Alex Trebek gave fans an update on his battle with pancreatic cancer before he signed off for the show’s summer hiatus. He stayed positive throughout his entire speech and assured fans he would be back in the fall for another exciting season of the game show.

“Some of you may recall that at the beginning of this season I promised you that we had some surprises in store for you. Well, of course, I had no idea at that time that there were some surprises in store for me as well,” Trebek began in a video message that he posted on Twitter Wednesday afternoon.

The show is closing out its 35th season on the air, which is quite the big deal. Trebek took a moment out of talking about his current crisis to acknowledge the success of the show he has hosted for over three decades.

He also once again thanked his fans for their outpour of support after his diagnosis was revealed earlier this year. The 78-year-old is fighting for his life, as he continues treatment for stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

“I’ve always tried to be straight with you, and I’m not going to stop now, so despite what you may have heard, I’m feeling good. I’m continuing with my therapy and we, by we, the staff, is already working on our next season. So, I look forward to seeing you once again in September with all kinds of good stuff,” Trebek shared before signing off for the summer hiatus, which was already planned before his cancer battle was announced.

Unfortunately, the survival statistics are relatively low for pancreatic cancer, but that is not stopping the Jeopardy host from keeping a positive attitude. When he shared his diagnosis, Trebek made it clear he intended to beat the survival odds and will fight until it happens.

Alex Trebek is taking a break from the hit game show, but he plans to come back in the fall better than ever. Trebek insists that despite his illness and what rumors may be circulating about the host, he is doing just fine.

Fans should not worry if they don’t see or hear from the Jeopardy host for a while. It does not mean anything bad. He is merely focused on his health and is doing so out of the public eye.
