Always Be My Maybe Star Randall Park Defends His Fresh Off The Boat Co-Star Constance Wu For Viral Meltdown Over Show Renewal

Always Be My Maybe star Randall Park is well aware of that viral Constance Wu reaction after she found out that their show, Fresh Off The Boat, had been renewed. The Netflix film star is coming to her defense.

To be fair, Park says that Wu wasn’t the only one who was taken back by the announcement that another season was coming because most of the cast and crew thought that the fifth would be its last! He also added that just like Constance, he was preparing to move on to other projects.

Randall recently interviewed with Variety Magazine where he explained: ‘I thought that last [season] would be our last one. Because literally the season finale was a bookend to the pilot. So, I think everyone kind of thought that and we weren’t sure if we’d keep going. [Wu] certainly thought that. She was in for a surprise, and we all were. But it’s great. There’s a lot more stories to tell.’

He went on to say: ‘I was prepared for it to not get picked up, and I was excited by these other things I could do. But if it did get picked up I was also like, that’s all I ever wanted. “All I ever wanted was a job and a regular job and to work with great people.’

Fresh Off The Boat has found a fan base in millions of people; however, it was Crazy Rich Asians that recently took Constance’s career to another level.

This comes after the actresses’ meltdown about the news of a new season went viral when she tweeted: ‘So upset right now that I’m literally crying. Ugh. F***.’

After a viewer congratulated her on the pickup by saying it was great news, Wu responded: ‘No it’s not.’

The public seemed to think that the 37-year-old’s reaction was selfish and stories later came out that sparked rumors that she was a ‘nightmare on set.’

Constance eventually apologized and explained her comments came from a place of disappointment due to the fact she was planning to pursue other roles.
