Amber Heard was rejected from Aquaman 2 due to chemistry with Jason Momoa. Aquaman comics star Amber Heard nearly lost her role in the sequel, despite the fact that the original film grossed more than a billion dollars at the worldwide box office. The reason was her litigation with her ex-husband and some fears of the studio’s management about the “chemistry” with the title role performer Jason Momoa.

This information is reportedly taken from the testimony of DC Films President Walter Hamada, which will be presented in the upcoming Heard v. Depp defamation trial.

Heard did eventually get the chance to reprise her role as Mera in Aquaman 2, but informed sources say the actress was unable to negotiate a pay increase. Hurd’s team claims this is the result of a scandal surrounding her relationship with Depp.

According to documents to be presented to the court, Hurd also claims that she no longer received any lucrative offers due to problems with her ex-spouse, and the report says that “expert testimony can support her assertion.”
Aquaman 2, which will see Jason Momoa return as Lord of the Seas, is slated for release in March 2023.

Depp and Heard divorced Depp and then, in May 2016, after receiving a temporary restraining order against him, Depp and Heard remained embroiled in a legal battle for several years. After Depp filed a contempt lawsuit against the British tabloid The Sun for publishing Depp as a “wife-beater” in a 2018 article, heard was further scrutinized.
