As you probably remember, back in June, August Alsina admitted that he was involved romantically with none other than Jada Pinkett Smith even though she was already married to Will Smith at the time. Now, the man claims that in spite of their ‘entanglement,’ his relationship with both Jada and Will is not ‘broken at all!’
During a new interview for People, the singer insisted that he actually has a lot of ‘deep respect’ for the famous married pair in spite of the drama they have.
Furthermore, he insisted that he never really meant to ‘cause trouble.’
‘It’s just a part of life, and it’s a part of the journey. There is a lot of love there. Sometimes truth’s complicated. But [my relationship with Jada and Will is not] broken at all,’ August stated.
As for his decision to tell the world about his past relationship with Jada, he told the publication that he just had no choice.
After all, the rumors about them were really affecting his career since they started spreading amid the release of his new album.
A lot of people out there would call him a ‘home-wrecker on social media so he felt like he just had to clear things up.
‘I never cared about what others thought of me, but my personal life started to seep into my business life. There were falsities about me, and that affected my business relationships. I could understand why it’d look like I am reckless or disrespectful so it started to affect my livelihood, and I am never OK with that. I am always going to be in the driver’s seat of my life and narrative. I cannot let anyone else do that for me,’ he explained.
But then, he also got a lot of criticism over his release of a song titled Entanglements, which is the word Jada used to describe their involvement.
About this, August said that it doesn’t bother him but that he sees a double standard.
‘It was cool when people were able to use it as a mockery of me, like, ‘Oh, you’re an entanglement.’ When I flipped it, it suddenly became a problem. Like, ‘Oh, you are clout-chasing.’ I am just doing business. It is not personal,’ he insisted.
