According to TMZ, Gwozdz died on Wednesday, January 22nd after more than a week in the hospital. On January 13th, a woman called 911 to report a possible drug overdose after she couldn’t get into a bathroom to help Gwozdz. During the call, the woman was frantic as she reported her concern that he may have been on heroin and she was trying to find Narcan, which is a nasal spray that can reverse an opioid overdose.

The woman eventually broke down the bathroom door and turned Gwozdz over on his back. Once paramedics took Gwozdz to the hospital he was reportedly in critical but stable condition. However, by Tuesday, January 21st, he was no longer a patient at the facility.

Gwozdz didn’t make it far during Brown’s season on The Bachelorette that aired in 2019, but he was able to score a one-on-one date with the former pageant queen. Gwozdz ended up leaving the show in the third episode without any explanation. Brown only told the other contestants that Gwozdz “had to leave.”

He later explained in a statement that both he and Bachelorette producers came to the decision for him to leave the show, and it was the best decision that could have been made. Gwozdz added that the actual reason for his departure wasn’t aired on the ABC reality show out of respect for his privacy.

Gwozdz and Brown’s date featured a helicopter ride, and the two discussed what they wanted in their respective futures.

The 29-year-old was a sales manager who graduated in 2012 from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. According to his Bachelorette bio, he planned to earn his PhD so he could become a clinical psychologist, and he recently moved to Florida to study at Florida Atlantic University.
