'Baffled' Angelina Jolie Cannot Understand Why Brad Pitt Attended Jennifer Aniston's 50th Birthday Party

Not many will be surprised to learn that Angelina Jolie is still baffled and frustrated by the news that not only did Brad Pitt attend the big bash for Jennifer Aniston’s 50th birthday, but he also gave her a mysterious gift.

Over the weekend, many were left with their jaws on the floor after Brad like many other celebrities made his way to the fancy event.

It has been confirmed by reliable sources, who spoke to PEOPLE and Entertainment Tonight that the former power couple shared a hug and had a brief exchange. Despite the fact that there was little interaction, Angelina is angry.

An insider told Hollywood Life: “Angelina is shocked that Brad went to Jennifer’s birthday party. She was aware they were back in touch but didn’t realize they’d gotten that close again. It brings up a lot of tough emotions for Angelin, but she’s not dwelling on it. As hard as it is for her to know that Brad and Jennifer are hanging out, she knows there’s nothing she can do about it, and she is choosing not to focus her energy there.”

The person, who spoke to PEOPLE, said Brad did send a special gift and added: “Most birthday party guests sent gifts to Jen’s house. Brad did too. Her friends are all very generous and creative, and she seemed very excited by all the gifts.”

Many friends including Katy Perry, Ellen DeGeneres, Reese Witherspoon, Robert Downey Jr., Jason Bateman, George Clooney, Orlando Bloom, and Pitt’s ex-fiancee, Gwyneth Paltrow attended the soirée, and some are defending Brad’s decision to be there.

The tipster stated: “He was invited, so why shouldn’t he go?” — “He’s single and has no one to answer to. He and Jen spent many important and happy years together. He obviously decided to join her celebration because he wanted to.”

According to the same source: “Her friends were happy to see Brad at the party. Whatever caused their divorce is long in the past, they have a very civil relationship. He came to support her, spoke to other friends of his that were there and headed out.”

The family friend stated: “Friends were a bit surprised but not shocked to see Brad there, but Jen has been open and honest in the fact that they have spoken here and there since Jen’s breakup with Justin. They’re friendly, and they’re on fine terms which is why nobody was totally shocked, but they knew the press, and everyone would talk about it. They’re not necessarily close, but more friendly.”

Angelina still has Brad on her mind.
