Despite being the President, Barack Obama always made time to also be in the lives of his daughters as much as possible! In fact, he was so involved that he went on to become the coach of Sasha’s 4th grade basketball team at the time – until he was fired!

According to Barack’s words in his new memoir, A Promised Land, parents of the kids on another team complained about him and he was eventually forced to quit!

As it turns out, the president/coach was just a bit too enthusiastic about the team and got in trouble for calling shots from the sidelines at the games.

‘After witnessing a few adorable but chaotic games,’ Barack and personal aide, Reggie Love started to involve themselves in drafting plans for the Vipers.

The team also included Joe Biden‘s granddaughter, Maisy!

The former president writes in his autobiography that there was ‘Nothing compared to the thrill — and stress — of rooting for Sasha’s fourth grade rec league team. The girls seemed to have as much fun as we did,’ although things would sometimes get ‘too intense.’

As for his trouble with the parents of another team, they apparently complained to administration that having the POTUS as the coach was an advantage quite unfair for the Vipers!

Obama recalls Lova telling him that ‘‘They must think being coached by you is something they can put on a Harvard application.’ I decided it would be simpler for all concerned if I went back to just being a fan. Every parent savors such moments, I suppose, when the world slows down, your strivings get pushed to the back of your mind, and all that matters is that you are present, fully, to witness the miracle of your child growing up. Given all the time I’d missed with the girls over years of campaigning and legislative sessions, I cherished the normal ‘dad stuff’ that much more.’
