While chatting with CNN’s Anderson Cooper in a new interview, Barack shared his thoughts on how nowadays, it appears that people are expected to be perfect so any mistake is harshly criticized on social media.

The former President told the host that this is a topic he’s discussed with his two college-aged daughters, Malia and Sasha before and according to him, they agree that cancel culture is a problem.

Both of them are very active when it comes to social and political change, just like many others in their generation.

At the same time, they are also very open about their thoughts and ideas with their father.

‘I see in this generation that, what you and I might have tolerated as ‘yeah thats how things are,’ their attitude is, ‘why and let’s change it,” Obama told Anderson during the interview.

But he noted that, along with this fight for change, a new trend dubbed as ‘cancel culture’ has appeared in an attempt to hold privileged people in positions of power accountable for their actions.

Unfortunately, some people go overboard and try to cancel anyone who thinks differently from them.

‘At least in conversations with my daughter, I think that a lot of the dangers of cancel culture is we’re just going to be condemning people all the time. At least among my daughters, they will acknowledge sometimes among their peer group or in college campuses, you’ll see folks going overboard. They have a pretty good sense of look, we don’t expect everybody to be perfect…politically correct all the time…but we are gonna call out institutions, if they are being cruel and discriminating against people,’ Barack went on to share.
