Barbra Streisand Reveals She Voted For Eminem's Lose Yourself During 2003 Oscars

Eminem shocked the Oscars 2020 audience when he performed his hit song, “Lose Yourself,” before a celebrity-filled crowd and viewers at home. On Tuesday, Barbra Streisand revealed she was one of the voters who pledged for Eminem to take home the award back in the early 2000s.

On her Instagram account, Barbra shared that she had “voted for (his) song too!” The 77-year-old singer shared the original clip of her revealing him as the winner. Regarding Sunday night’s appearence, Eminem apologized for taking so long to get there.

Later, reporters from Variety asked whether Eminem was disappointed that he couldn’t accept the Oscars in person, and he told the outlet he mostly was just blown away that he had actually won.

The rapper claimed it was like “a vacuum,” and he never even understood how he could win an Oscar for the track anyway. The Detroit native explained that he thought the Oscars couldn’t understand a person like him at that time in his life.

Interestingly, some people on social media were shocked by Eminem’s performance at the Oscars this year and felt it was slightly out of place. Reportedly, people such as Kelly Marie Tran, Marie Tran, Billie Eilish, Idina Menzel, and Martin Scorsese appeared confused during the broadcast, a report from the New York Post suggested.

Even Billy Eichner took to his social media to call him out for his past homophobic remarks in songs, stating that Eminem could use the word, “f*ggot,” a million times throughout his career and sing on stage at the Oscars that’s supposedly about “diversity.”

Regarding Eminem and his win back in the early 2000s, the rapper explained to Variety that he was at home taking care of his daughter at the time so he didn’t even realize he won the award. He might’ve been sleeping.
