Bernie Sanders Goes Viral For Laid-Back Inaugural Attire

Senator Bernie Sanders went viral for his attire when he attended Joe Biden‘s and Kamala Harris’ inauguration. Presidential inaugurations are often high-fashion events with those in attendance wearing designer names. Celebrities usually attend and the inauguration is followed by the inaugural ball. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, President Joe Biden’s inauguration wasn’t the traditional event filled with pomp and glamour. Instead, the event was socially distanced and face masks were required. Still, many people dressed up for the event, and Vice President Kamala Harris, Michelle Obama, and Dr. Jill Biden all wore complementary colors.

Even though some people were dressed up, Bernie clearly had comfort on his mind. He even protected his hands from the cold weather with a pair of mittens.

Bernie is Vermont’s Senator and his supporters quickly pointed out that he was representing Vermont with his parka and mittens. Not only did people love his laid-back look, but he quickly received the meme treatment.

People couldn’t help but notice that Bernie Sanders was carrying a manilla envelope. Some presumed he was holding the new stimulus plan!

A photo of Bernie seated in a chair also received the meme treatment where some people suggested that Bernie was waiting for a heater due to being cold. It’s also been pointed out that Bernie was socially distanced from many while at the event. Vermont has one of the lowest Coronavirus infection rates and deaths in the nation and it seems that Bernie isn’t playing around when it comes to his safety!

Fans loved the mittens that Bernie Sanders was wearing and many people asked questions about them. Buzz Feed reported Ruby Cramer got the story about the mittens and stated this.

Bernie’s mittens are made by Jen Ellis, a teacher from Essex Junction, Vt. She gave them to him 2+ years ago and was surprised when he began wearing them on the campaign trail. They are made from repurposed wool sweaters and lined with fleece made from recycled plastic bottles.
