Bethenny Frankel's RHONY Replacement Leah McSweeney Homophobic Past Revealed

Now that Bethenny Frankel has left the cast of the Real Housewives of New York, Bravo is scrambling to find her replacement for Season 12. Rumor has it that the network is considering Tinsley Mortimer’s friend Leah McSweeney after a fan caught her filming in a New York hotel, but her past homophobic and racist comments may end her time on RHONY before it begins.

McSweeney is the creator of the “Married to the MOB” clothing brand, she writes an advice column for Penthouse magazine, and she also co-hosts the Improper Etiquette podcast. At first glance, she seems like a good fit for the cast. But, an unusual text exchange and Twitter rant filled with homophobic and racist comments have surfaced, and it doesn’t make McSweeney look good.

According to All About The Tea, McSweeney met Saturday Night Live star Michael Che on the Raya dating app back in 2016. However, the two never hooked up because Che was not impressed by McSweeney’s text etiquette.

The text messages occurred between September 2016 and January 2017, and McSweeney told Che that most of the men on the dating app “look gay,” and she later accused Che of hating her because she is white.

After a couple of short text exchanges in September and November of 2016, McSweeney sent Che a few texts in December that he didn’t respond to, and she didn’t like being ignored.

“U hate me cus I’m white. Our conversations r everything to me btw. We have a lot of friends in common and if anyone of them saw this I would b so ashamed,” wrote McSweeney on December 29th. “I like harassing U on text and it’s almost like pranking. Except I’m not anonymous. And I’m ashamed of it. Do you even know what I look like?”

Che eventually responded a few days later, and he put an end to the texting relationship by telling McSweeney he had no interest in meeting her because she texts “strange declarations looking for a reaction,” and he has no desire to know “the real-life equivalent of that.”

Che ended up releasing the texts, and it sent McSweeney into a Twitter tirade that she has since deleted. She wrote that Che was a “little b***h” because he was mad and planted a story, and she also accused him of being “racist AF.”

A rep for Bravo says that they will not comment on casting, and McSweeney’s rep is staying quiet, too.

Season 12 of Real Housewives of New York will premiere in the spring of 2020 on Bravo.
