Beverly Hills 90210 alum Shannon Doherty fought back tears as she gave an update on her former costar and friend Luke Perry. Despite all their off-screen drama years ago, Doherty has nothing but love for Perry. She couldn’t help but get emotional when speaking about his recent stroke.

The actress walked the red carpet at The Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation’s Compassion Project Gala in Los Angeles on Sunday night and was, of course, asked to speak about Perry’s health crisis. Entertainment Tonight wanted to know if Doherty had any well-wishes or comments for the 52-year-old actor, who is still in the hospital.

“I do. I can’t talk about it here because I will literally start crying but I love him, and he knows I love him. It’s Luke, and he’s my Dylan,” the 47-year-old actress shared.

Doherty went on to reveal that she has been in contact with the Riverdale hunk since his hospitalization. However, she was clear that their chat was strictly private, and she did not want to talk about it.

“I will not talk about how he’s doing because it’s between the two of us,” she told People magazine at the event.

The former Charmed star was not willing to give out private details of her conversation with Perry, but she did have a message for fans. Doherty revealed that the actor is “going to be great.” However, he could use a little help in the form of prayers, and positive thoughts sent his way because it makes all the difference.

Last week the father of two was rushed to an undisclosed Los Angeles hospital. Reports that he suffered a massive stroke surfaced, with his rep only stating that the actor was in the hospital for observation.

An outpouring of love and support for Perry spread like wildfire once news of his health crisis broke. Since then friends, family, costars, and fans have been waiting patiently for news on his condition.

Shannon Doherty and Luke Perry had their issues as two young Hollywood stars on the set of Beverly Hills 90210. However, those days are long gone, and they both have nothing but respect for each other. Perry was there to support Doherty during her battle with breast cancer, and now she is doing the same for him.

Brenda and Dylan may not have ridden off into the sunset, but Perry and Doherty have bonded forever thanks to those two teenage lovebirds. She like the rest of the world wishes her friend a speedy recovery.
