Despite a controversial Season 21, there was never really any doubt CBS would renew Big Brother. It has been a staple for decades and a must-see summer show for fans. It was dubbed one of the top five summer shows on any broadcast network by The Hollywood Reporter.

The current season has been plagued with fan backlash over racist and sexist comments thanks to houseguests Jack Matthews and Jackson Michie. It might have seemed like there were more issues than in previous seasons, but in all honesty, there always seems to be some sort of scandal involving the show.

Julie Chen Moonves has inked a new deal to return as host of Big Brother. She has been a staple for the reality TV show since day one.

There was speculation the famous host might leave her duties, especially after her husband Les Moonves was fired from his position at CBS in 2018. Chen Moonves left her role as co-host on the CBS daytime show The Talk after her husband got canned.

Fans worried she would also choose to leave Big Brother too. It would be hard to imagine those Live Evictions without her each Thursday. Thankfully she not only finished out last season but returned this year.

She did change her name on-air following the scandal. Initially, she would sign off as Julie Chen, after her husband’s firing she started to sign off as Julie Chen Moonves.

Next summer it will be business as usual for Big Brother. The reality TV show is staying put, and fans could not be happier. Yes, there is drama, but it is genuinely one of the reasons the show is so good.

CBS has renewed Big Brother for Season 22. The fate of Celebrity Big Brother Season 3 remains up in the air. The spin-off first aired in 2018 to give CBS a fighting chance against the NBC Winter Olympics.

Sadly, the celebrity edition has been a bust the past two seasons. The first year the famous faces kept choosing to leave the house, while the second was not that entertaining.
