Initially, the HBO hit starring Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Zoë Kravitz, and Laura Dern was going to be a limited-series. However, thanks to intense pressure and desire from fans, the ladies returned for another stellar season.

The entire supporting cast, including Adam Scott and Young Sheldon star Iain Armitage, also returned for their essential roles. Big Little Lies season two treated fans to special guest star, Meryl Streep who is phenomenal as Mary Louise as the mother of the newly deceased Perry.

Kidman recently opened up to News Corp Australia regarding whether or not she would like to bring Celeste back for a third season.

“I think we would love to do a season three because there is certainly ideas. But we would not do it without all of the same people involved, even the kids,” she explained.

The latter part of her statement is why there will likely never be a third season of Big Little Lies. Everyone in the fabulous cast is extremely busy, especially its six leading ladies. Therefore, coordinating all the various schedules for filming is beyond difficult.

HBO president Casey Bloys expressed to People magazine the network is all in for a Season 3. However, he feels fans should keep their expectations for another season, very low.

“I love this group of people. I would do anything with them. But the reality is, they are some of the busiest actresses working in Hollywood. We have deals with some of them Nicole Kidman is doing her next show, The Undoing with us. I just think it’s not realistic,” Bloys explained.

He did admit though that if the cast came to him with a schedule, everyone could accommodate, then HBO would be all for it.

Reese Witherspoon has also expressed interest in returning for another season of Big Little Lies. Perhaps somehow, she and Kidman can convince the rest of the cast to get their schedules in line. The cast will definitely work to accommodate the two forces behind the drama, especially if Streep in on board.

Even if fans have to wait another two years for the HBO hit to come back for only seven more episodes, it would be worth the wait.
