Bindi Irwin has penned a loving note to her late father, Steve Irwin after her engagement to Chandler Powell.

As she begins to plan her wedding, the glaring reality of the famed Crocodile Hunter’s absence can’t be ignored by Bindi. Instead of her dad walking her down the aisle, Bindi’s brother Robert will have the honor. It is a touching sentiment despite the sadness of Steve’s absence.

Chandler popped the question to Bindi on her 21st birthday, at the Irwin family’s Australia Zoo. Robert was on hand to take pictures to caption his sister’s special moment. A little over a week later, she has written a loving note to her dad Steve, as she embraces planning her wedding.

“Dad, you would be so incredibly proud of Robert. He has been such an amazing support during this beautiful new life chapter. I know you’d be beaming with pride when the time comes that he walks me down the aisle. I wish you could be here for these moments, but I know that your spirit lives on in us,” read the Instagram message that has brought tears so many of her followers’ eyes.

Bindi was only 8-years-old when her famous father passed away. She will forever be remembered for the heartfelt speech she gave at his memorial. It was her words that thrust the little girl into the spotlight.

Since Steve’s death, Bindi has often paid tribute to him. In 2015 while competing in the Dancing With The Stars finale, her partner Derek Hough and she honored Steve.

At the end of their final dance, Hough presented Bindi with a picture of her dad. It was one of the most emotional dances on the reality TV show to date.
