Bob Saget Sings The Praises Of First-Time Dad John Stamos, Says 'He's Amazing To Watch'

Fuller House star Bob Saget couldn’t help but gush about his co-star and bestie John Stamos during the recent Cool Comedy, Hot Cuisine charity event for the Scleroderma Research Foundation. Stamos and his wife Caitlin McHugh welcomed their son, Billy, in April 2018, and Saget is impressed at Stamos’ daddy game, considering the 56-year-old is a first-time father.

“He’s amazing, he’s amazing,” Saget told Us Weekly. “If you follow his Instagram, you’ll know it’s for real. His baby is the cutest thing in the universe.”

Stamos and McHugh tied the knot in February 2018, but Saget says its still up in the air if the couple will have more kids. He joked that it will depend on how 20-month-old Billy’s hair grows in, and if he has good hair, they’ll have many more children.

Saget said that after Billy was born, he gave some advice to Stamos about “cleaning the kid,” telling him to “wipe front to back because he doesn’t want to get an infection.” But, in all seriousness, Saget said that Stamos is really good at being a dad, and when he was at their house earlier this month it was beautiful to watch Stamos with his young son when McHugh was out of town.

“We were just hanging out and it was amazing to watch,” said Saget, adding that Stamos just knows everything he needs to do and he has wanted to be a dad his entire life.

Back in 2015, Stamos joked that his time was running out to start a family, saying that his “ovaries are rattling.” He then asked if men had ovaries, and corrected himself by saying his were jingling, not rattling.

Stamos’ former Fuller House co-star Lori Loughlin agrees with Saget’s assessment that Stamos is a fantastic dad. She said in February 2018 after Billy was born that Stamos didn’t need her advice because Stamos and McHugh had it covered.

At the time, Lori Loughin said that she wouldn’t give advice because she doesn’t have the answers. Instead, it’s all about putting one foot in front of the other and taking things one day at a time.

The first half of the fifth and final season of Fuller House is now available for streaming on Netflix. The second of the final season will be released in 2020.
