If you’re either part of the Beyhive or a fan of Britney Spears, you probably know that the latter singer caused a bit of a controversy when she called herself the Queen B without knowing that the nickname belongs to Beyonce and has for many years! As a result, some of the passionate Beyhive fans were quick to call her out and even some of her own fans warned Britney the name was taken.
However, one insider report claims to know that Britney really had no intention of shading Beyonce and her post was just an honest mistake and nothing more.
Britney only wanted to ‘be nice’ to those fans who apparently do call her Queen B, which is why she mentioned the nickname.
The source tells HollywoodLife that ‘she isn’t playing games’ and was not trying to be disrespectful.
‘When Britney originally made the comments she was never thinking of Beyonce at all. She genuinely believes her fans call her Queen B and she wanted to be fun on her Instagram and show some love. And that is why she hasn’t deleted it either because Britney was not looking to ever shade or upset Beyonce or her fans at any point, she wanted to address her fans only and just be nice,’ the insider dished.
The post that caused the controversy featured a pic of a bee that donned diamonds where the stripes are supposed to be, as well as a crown.
But, of course, the caption was what set some users off.
‘To all my fans who call me Queen 👑 B …. I believe this would be more accurate 😉🐝🐝🐝🐝 !!!!!’ Britney wrote.
The criticism she received over her mistake, however, did not shock the pop star.
After all, being in the industry for such a long time means that she’s used to getting hate.
