Britney Spears Still Has Conservator Singer Can’t Get Married Without Father Jamie Spears Approval

It has been over ten years since Britney Spears had her infamous meltdown and Jamie Spears became her conservator. Brit Brit has come a long way in the past decade, rebuilding her career, becoming a loving, stable mother and finally finding a healthy relationship.

The 37-year-old has grown up and taken control of her life. However, she might not have as much control over her life as people might think. According to US Weekly, her father is still her conservator, which means she literally can’t make a change or decision regarding her life without his ok.

For example, Brit Brit has been dating her boyfriend, Sam Asghari, for a little of two years. The couple is pretty serious, and he has been a stable force for her as she deals with Jamie’s illness. However, should Asghari pop the question, the ‘Toxic’ singer could say yes, but they could not get hitched without daddy’s approval.

It seems weird that a woman in her late 30’s can’t get married without her permission. That is just how the conservatorship works. The mother of Preston age 13, and Jayden age 12 has to get her dad on board if she wants another child. Honestly, though if she gets knocked up what is Jamie going to do, accidents do happen.

Jamie doesn’t micromanage his daughter’s life, any more and not just because of his illness. A source close to the family shared with US Weekly he feels she has earned the right to some freedom but is skeptical when it comes to significant life choices.

At the beginning of the year, Britney revealed she was taking an indefinite hiatus from her Las Vegas residency Britney: Domination to care for her father. Last fall Jamie Spears was rushed to a hospital when his colon ruptured. He is currently recovering from the life-threatening event. Jamie has a long road to recovery, which is why his daughter is focusing on her family right now.

The fact that Britney Spears still has a conservatorship is shocking. Perhaps it is because she seems so together these days. There is no word on how much longer Jamie Spears will be her conservator or who would take over the role should something happen to the 66-year-old.
