Can A Remorseful Barbra Streisand Finally Put Her Michael Jackson's Defense Backlash Behind Her?

The musical legend, Barbra Streisand came to her senses and finally confessed she was wrong in defending her late colleague Michael Jackson from the accusations that he sexually molested young boys.

The 76-year-old diva caused quite a backlash and drew many negative comments after an interesting interview that she did with the Times which came out on Friday.

During the interview, the Oscar winner expressed the opinion that the two accusers of Jackson, Wade Robson and James Safechuck, probably wanted to spend time with him and “wanted to be there” and what happened was not fatal for their lives as they went on being married and having children later on.

Streisand went on to explain that even though Jackson had some bizarre sexual needs, they were “his sexual needs.”

The legendary artist initially explained: “You can say ‘molested,’ but those children, as you heard [grown-up Robson and Safechuck] say, they were thrilled to be there. They both married and they both have children, so it didn’t kill them. His sexual needs were his sexual needs, coming from whatever childhood he has or whatever DNA he has.”

She eventually apologized by saying: “I am profoundly sorry for any pain or misunderstanding I caused by not choosing my words more carefully about Michael Jackson and his victims. I didn’t mean to dismiss the trauma these boys experienced in any way. Like all survivors of sexual assault, they will have to carry this for the rest of their lives. I feel deep remorse and I hope that James and Wade know that I truly respect and admire them for speaking their truth.”

However, the singer’s words almost immediately sparked waves of comments on social media, and the majority of users deemed her remarks as inappropriate.

The media outrage caused the celebrity to issue an official apology and take back her words, but instead, she shifted the blame for what happened to the parents of Jackson’s victims.

Streisand went on with the apologetic statements and later posted a separate message on Twitter, in which she further expressed her remorse and again asked Robson and Safechuck for forgiveness.

The singer also apologized for any misunderstanding coming from the interview and praised Jacksons’ accusers for finding the courage to speak the truth.

The interview with Streisand comes right after the recent release of the documentary Leaving Neverland starring Robson and Safechuck, which claims to explain how Jackson assaulted them when they were seven and ten years old.
