It was supposed to be the PR campaign that was out of this world. Supermodel Cara Delevingne would be the first to take a space selfie and others would join in. In fact, just last week, Cara hosted the Samsung Space Selfie launch party that took place in London, England at the Samsung KX. It was October 23, 2019, and the sky — or the stratosphere- was the limit. Cara’s selfie was going to space. Her amazing group selfie was going to space and all with the Samsung S10+. The group selfie was to be reminiscent of Ellen’s Oscar selfie and everything was ready and set for take-off until it came crashing down to earth.
Cara was full of excitement as she shared several photos of her selfie and the group selfie that would be the first in space with her 43.6 million Instagram followers.
She stated the following.
“Take a good look guys, this is the first ever #SpaceSelfie! Tonight we became Space Pioneers, check out this epic group selfie that is now on it’s way into the stratosphere! Now it’s your turn, register now and show me what you’ve got. I’m waiting… Go to Samsung.com/spaceselfie to upload your selfie #SpaceSelfie #ad #withGalaxy.”

Things took a drastic turn for the worse when on Saturday, October 26, 2019, Nancy Mumby-Welke of Gratiot County, Michigan heard a loud crash on her farm. Nancy shared a photo of the space balloon on her Facebook account and has spoken to multiple media outlets.
She stated the following in an ABC report.
“This baby fell out of the sky and landed in our yard, and it’s still going and flashing.”
You may see a report below that shows the space balloon that was originally intended to remain in the stratosphere until October 31, 2019, in the video player below.
Samsung released a statement to NBC News about the space balloon’s crash.
“No injuries occurred and the balloon was subsequently retrieved. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused.”
