Cardi B Asks Why The 'Urban' Community Hasn't Had Its Own #MeToo Movement

According to a report from Page Six, Cardi B recently put some of her fans on blast for accusing her of lying about a photographer who tried to exploit her. The rapper asked on her Instagram Stories when there would be a #MeToo movement in the black and hip-hop community.

While responding to the allegations that she was lying, Cardi asked why she would even bother telling falsehoods in the first place. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper went on to say that some men really are trying to “take advantage of girls.”

During an episode of WE TV’s Untold Stories of Hip-Hop, the 26-year-old rapper dished to the host, Angie Martinez, about an incident that went down during a photoshoot for a magazine. According to Cardi, the photographer was trying to get close to her, he asked her if she wanted to be in a magazine, and then he “pulled his d*ck out.”

The rapper claims she then went to the magazine owner who then looked at her as if to say, “So?” Cardi urged for a #MeToo movement to happen in the urban community as well, stating that many girls “from the hood” are the victims of malevolence.

After she revealed her story, many people on social media supposedly came after Cardi and denied her accusation outright. The rapper revealed another story that occurred when she was just 20-years-old. Cardi wanted to be in music videos as a career choice, and men would request she sends naked photos.

It was back in late 2017, following the New York Times and New Yorker reports on Harvey Weinstein, that the #MeToo movement first began. A plethora of women began coming out of the woodwork to reveal their stories of harassment, abuse, rape, assault, and intimidation.

In the case of the Invasion of Privacy rapper, however, some fans have pointed out that she was guilty of similar behavior, following the revelation that she had supposedly lured men back into a hotel room while she was a stripper to try and rob them.

It was back in March of 2019 when a Livestream from 2016 resurfaced on social media where the rapper could be heard telling her story of how she drugged and robbed unsuspecting men who went to her hotel room for sex.
