It is official; Cardi B is a Grammy winner and many famous femcees including Lil Kim, Remy Ma, and Iggy Azalea were quick to congratulate her. Many are wondering, will Nicki Minaj do the same?
The 26-year-old rapper from New York got very emotional as she took the stage to deliver her acceptance speech after winning the award for Best Rap Album for her album, Invasion of Privacy, at the at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
Cardi B, who made history by being the first solo female to win that prize, was accompanied by her husband, Offset, and she had this to say: “You, husband, thank you. Because he was like, ‘Oh, you’re gonna do this album, girl. We’re gonna have this baby; you’re gonna do this album.’”
She also thanked her baby girl, Kulture, for motivating her to complete the album.
The new mother stated: “I want to thank my daughter. I’m not just saying thank you because she’s my daughter. It’s because, you know, when I found out I was pregnant, my album was not complete, like three songs that I was for sure having. And then you know, you know how it was, we were like, we have to get this album done so I could still do videos while I’m still not showing. And it was very long nights.”
One fan reacted to what Lil Kim, Remy Ma, and Iggy Azalea said: “They showing love out of spite. Nicki wasn’t even nominated. So how could she have won? How you hate from outside of the club. You can’t even get in lmao. I need the same energy when Nicki do something big. 🤷🏾♀️”
Another supporter shared: “Yes, the entertainment industry has evolved, and Kim had several situations that held her back by a long shot then Nicki stepped in stole her swag and pretty much buried her with her hate and shade. Why y’all talking about Nicki rn let Cardi have her shine👏🏽. That beef stale asf like damn.”
This music lover claimed: “That’s kind of backhanded praise, and you are basically saying that the award doesn’t mean anything but saying congrats. I’m genuinely happy cardi won and made history with that win, and that’s her own legacy Nicki had her moment and cardi should be allowed to have hers. I have no doubt someone else will come and take the moment, and everyone will have to move on.”
Cardi B was able to beat Nipsey Hussle, Pusha T, Travis Scott, and the late Mac Miller for the award.
The “Bodak Yellow” rapper is changing the game.
