Cardi B never fails to make people laugh when she opens her mouth! Her sayings and way of speaking are a big part of her charm and what helped her reach such a high level of fame, so quickly!
That being said, one of her signature words ‘okurrr,’ has perhaps become slang that people have adopted themselves and like to use.
Now, it looks like Cardi wants to make it very clear that it is her catchphrase (not like anyone could forget since it’s so HER) by trademarking it!
Online records have shown that there is a new filing to trademark ‘okurrr,’ done under her company, Washpoppin, Inc. earlier this month.
The documents mention that she intends to use the word for ‘paper goods, namely paper cups, and posters.’
But this is not the first time she’s filed it. The only difference? It was ‘Okurr’ with only two ‘r.’
This previous filing done in February was mentioned to be for ‘clothing, namely, T-shirts, sweatshirts, hooded sweatshirts, pants, shorts, jackets, footwear, headgear, namely, hats and caps, blouses, bodysuits, dresses, jumpsuits, leggings, skirts, sweaters, undergarments.’
As she was rising to fame at an incredible speed, the saying has become pretty much synonymous with the female rapper.
It would not be a stretch to say that it has also contributed to her getting more recognition since Cardi is loved by many because of her personality, even more than for her music.
While a guest on The Tonight Show last year, Cardi hilariously described the word as the sound ‘a cold pigeon in New York City’ would make.
‘Okurrr’ became even more viral when it was used as the catchphrase for Pepsi’s Super Bowl commercial!
