It was a shocking and sad day for both viewers and stars of daytime TV. After processing the news that Kristoff St. John mysteriously passed away of what may have been an overdose of alcohol — those who worked with him had nothing but positive things to say about the man who starred as Neil Winters for nearly 30 years on ‘The Young and the Restless.’

Viola Davis was one of the firsts to react to the tragic death when she tweeted: “The pain of grief and mental health should be addressed in the same realm as “physical” ailments. No real words except….I hope you found peace. God bless those you loved who were left behind. With all my heart and empathy.”

Vivica A. Fox, who now stars on ‘Empire,’ got a chance to work next to the actor on the soap opera and in a Lifetime movie.

She mourned her former cast mate with a touching tribute that read: “GM Dawlings! It is with a very heavy heart that I wake up this morning to hear about the passing of my good friend @KristoffStJohn who I started off my acting career with on the Soap Operas #Generations & #Young&TheRestless and recently #AChristmasCruise WOW!
