According to a report from Page Six, a battery charge against Chris Brown, stemming from a purported assault of a nightclub photographer two years ago in Florida, has been dropped.

Hillsborough County prosecutors requested to drop the charge this past Friday, and the State Attorney’s Office indicated there wasn’t enough evidence to press charges against the controversial performer.

The police of Tampa claims Brown was at the AJA Channelside club after a performance in April of 2017 when he got into an altercation with a photographer working for the club. Approximately one year after the incident, police in Palm Beach County met Brown following a performance in July of 2018.

In a statement to the Tampa Bay Times, Kevin Napper, Chris Brown’s attorney, claims the prosecution did the right thing, and that Brown was innocent of the charges. As most know, this won’t be the first time the singer-songwriter has been charged with an assault crime.

Rolling Stone Magazine once published an article about the crimes of Chris Brown against women, writing an entire feature and timeline of the singer’s assaults and altercations.

Written by Brittany Spanos, the essay begins with the 2009 incident involving Rihanna, in which Brown was accused of punching the singer in the face. It was arguably one of the biggest media scandals in the entertainment industry that year.

Two years later in 2011, Chris Brown was asked about the Rihanna incident by Robin Roberts, the host of Good Morning America, and he stormed off the production set and allegedly broke a window in his dressing room.

A year later in 2012, Brown took a cell phone from a woman who was trying to take pictures of him while he was out in public at a nightclub. Brown took the phone from the woman and ran off with it.

Whether he was justified in doing so or not, Mr. Brown’s reputation in the industry has since been on shaky ground. Although, his music and performing career have continued to soar. Brown’s last record, Indigo, released earlier this year, went to #1 on the Billboard US Album Charts.
