It’s been nearly two years since Knives Out star Chris Evans split from Saturday Night Live alum Jenny Slate. That was the last time he went public with a relationship, and while the 38-year-old actor remains single, an insider says he is dating and having fun.
According to a source at Us Weekly, Evans has been “dating different women,” but he’s “not exclusive with anyone.” The source added that the Avengers: Endgame star wants to “be more private with his love life” after his on-again, off-again relationship with Slate.

“Chris feels neutral towards Jenny Slate and holds no bad feelings towards her,” claims the insider. “[He] is happy for her.”
Evans and Slate started dating in July 2016, two months after she split from her husband of four years, Dean Fleischer-Camp. Evans and Slate starred in the movie Gifted together, and they dated for about six months before calling it quits in February 2017. At the time, an insider said the split was amicable and a mutual decision.
The exes blamed their breakup on their “conflicting schedules,” and they remained “very close friends.” Not long after their split, Slate said in an interview with Vulture that Evans was “one of the kindest people” she had ever met.
“He’s really vulnerable, and he’s really straightforward,” revealed Slate. “He’s like primary colors. He has beautiful, big, strong emotions, and he’s really sure of them. It’s just wonderful to be around. His heart is probably golden-colored, if you could paint it.”

The duo ended up rekindling their romance a few months later, but called it quits for good in early 2018. In September 2019, Slate got engaged to Ben Shattuck, a gallery curator and writer.
As for Evans, he opened up to the Hollywood Reporter last year about his dating life, and admitted he had fears about “being enveloped.” He explained that he has been a “really autonomous guy” his entire life. He enjoys going camping by himself, which is one of his favorite things. Evans said that he wants to be with someone who also has their own thing going.
“If I’m with someone who just kind of adopts my life, that can feel a bit suffocating,” said Evans.
Knives Out is currently playing in theaters nationwide.
