Chris Rock is trending Sunday morning after busting a few Jussie Smollett jokes at the 2019 NAACP awards Saturday night. Though Anthony Anderson hosted the event, it was clearly Chris Rock who stole the show even though he was advised not to joke about Jussie.
Taking the platform, Chris Rock brought up the fact he wasn’t supposed to joke about Jussie and said the following.
“They said no Jussie Smollett jokes. I know. What a waste of light skin. Do you know what I could do with that light skin? That curly hair? My career would be out of here. F–king running Hollywood! What the hell was he thinking? You’re ‘Jessie’ from now on. You don’t get the ‘u’ no more. That ‘u’ was respect. You ain’t getting no respect from me!”
Trevor Noah was seen in the audience laughing hard. There’s no doubt Jussie Smollett still has his fair share of supporters who believe he was telling the truth when he reported being attacked by two MAGA hat wearing Trump supporters on January 29, 2019.
Now that all charges have been dropped against Smollett (he was charged with 16 counts of disorderly conduct), people are split between whether they believe Smollett or not and if they feel his fame resulted in his getting the charges dismissed.
Chris Rock made it clear where he stood on the Jussie Smollett case. You may watch the video of Rock’s comments regarding Jussie Smollett in the video player below.

People are divided when it comes to Jussie Smollett and whether or not he staged a hate crime against himself. There have been numerous twists and turns in the case and although the state of Illinois is no longer pressing charges against Smollett, it appears the case isn’t over.
There have been multiple calls for investigations into how the Jussie Smollett case was handled and why the charges were suddenly dropped.
