Christian Bale Scores Fourth Oscar Nomination For 'Vice'

Christian Bale has landed his fourth Oscar nomination for his role as Dick Cheney in the Adam McKay film Vice. The movie reunites Amy Adams and Bale and has resulted in the duo’s third Oscar nomination together. The pair first worked together in David O’ Russell’s The Fighter, followed by American Hustle. Christian Bale won the best actor Academy Award for The Fighter and has been on a successful awards circuit garnering both the Golden Globe and Critic’s Choice Award for Vice.

The reunification of Amy Adams and Christian Bale shows that the two make a formidable team for both O’Russell and McKay. McKay enters the Academy Awards with an Oscar win for the 2015 film The Big Short (which also starred Steve Carell and Bale) and has three Oscar nominations for Vice including best picture, best director, and best original screenplay.

Vice has a total of eight Oscar nominations. They are best picture, best actor (Christian Bale), best supporting actor (Sam Rockwell), best supporting actress (Amy Adams), best writing/original screenplay, best film editing, best makeup and hairstyling, and best director.

There is no doubt that Vice is on an upward track to success and could prove to be the big winner when the Oscars air on February 24, 2019, on ABC. Currently, there is no host scheduled for the Oscars.

Christian Bale is in the lead and competes against Willem Dafoe, Bradley Cooper, Viggo Mortensen, and newcomer to the Oscars Rami Malek.

When Christian Bale won the 2019 best actor Golden Globe for the role, he made a statement in his native accent. Fans nationwide were stunned to hear Christian’s true accent.

While many puzzled people turned to the Internet to learn that Bale wasn’t American but Welsh, the 44-year-old actor explained the mystery behind the accent.

According to Bale, he had trouble getting a wide range of acting roles due to his accent. To avoid being typecast as a period actor, he kept up his American accent throughout interviews in order to convince the public he was an American.

The ploy worked and now Christian Bale is a four-time Oscar nominee going for his second win.
