According to a report from UPI.com, Christina Aguilera just secured her own Las Vegas residency. The 38-year-old pop legend announced during Tuesday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show that she would begin her residency at the Zappos Theatre at Planet Hollywood.
When speaking with Ellen in front of her audience, she said, “I’m going to do a residency in Vegas!” In recent years, stars and entertainers have begun securing Las Vegas residencies as a way of earning money without having to travel long distances.
In the past, residencies were usually for retired entertainers, but this has changed significantly over the years. When speaking with Ellen, the star explained that it would make her life a lot easier, considering she has an 11-year-old son to take care of with her ex-husband, Jordan Bratman.
She also has a four-year-old daughter with her fiancé, Matthew Ruttler. On the show, Christina discussed how great it was to finally establish a deal with the Zappos Theatre after years of deliberation. In a tweet you can see below, the singer shares the day the tickets go on sale.
Welcome to #TheXperience ✨✨✨🌓🌗 …a multisensory escape to a world of magic & total freedom, starting MAY 31st at @ZapposTheater inside @PHVegas. Tickets on sale this SATURDAY @ 10am PT.

In June, Christina released her latest album called, Liberation, which landed at number 6 on the Billboard 200. It features singles like “Accelerate,” and “Fall in Line.” This year, Christina joins the likes of Cardi B, Lady Gaga, and Wayne Newton who all kick off their shows in Las Vegas.
While many performers have opened up to the idea of performing in Vegas, others have said it reminds them a little bit too much of retirement.
For instance, last year, Justin Timberlake announced that he wasn’t interested in performing in Las Vegas because he felt as though it was something one does when your career is over. As it was mentioned above, historically, Las Vegas residencies were meant for stars who were already retired or are about to.
However, Zedd, Lady Gaga, Drake, and other artists have begun performing there due to the massive financial and lifestyle incentives. Most importantly, the fact the artists would no longer have to travel around the world to support themselves if they signed on to Las Vegas.
