Christina Hendricks Reveals She Was The Hand Model For 1999's American Beauty Poster

According to a report from Page Six, not long before the 20th anniversary of the iconic film starring Kevin Spacey, American Beauty, Christina Hendricks revealed she actually had a very small role in the production of the movie.

The Mad Men alum revealed she was actually the hand model for the movie’s legendary poster. The star took to her Instagram account to say she used to “be a model,” sometimes even a “hand model,” along with a picture of the American Beauty poster.

She wrote, “proud to be a part of this film in any way!” Following the revelation, many of her fans and followers online appeared shocked at the news. Released in September of 1999, American Beauty was a massive success, taking home a whopping total of 5 Oscars, including Best Actor In A Leading Role for Kevin Spacey.

Produced on a budget of just $15 million, the movie went on to earn $350,000,000 at the box office. Ironically, the film’s star, Kevin Spacey, was accused of sexual misconduct in late 2017 amid the exposés on Harvey Weinstein, written for The New York Times as well as The New Yorker.

Upon its 1999 release, American Beauty was widely hailed as the best movie in American cinema that year.
