There’s been a lot of criticism and speculations surrounding this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show performance, but now, people’s suspicions seem to be confirmed. Maroon 5 announced that they will, indeed perform at the big event and that Big Boi and Travis Scott will also join them on stage.
This comes after many other artists, including Rihanna and Pink, turned down the gig as a form of protest against the NFL for the way they unfairly treated Colin Kaepernick for kneeling during the national anthem.
Apparently, Kylie Jenner’s baby daddy agreed to go on that stage regardless, as long as the NFL offered a $500,000 donation to non-profit organization Dream Corps.
‘I back anybody who takes a stand for what they believe in. I know being an artist that it is in my power to inspire. Before confirming the Super Bowl performance, I made sure to partner with the NFL on this donation. I’m proud to support Dream Corps and the work they do that will hopefully inspire and promote change,’ Scott stated.
Furthermore, Variety also reported that Scott and Colin actually had a discussion about accepting the offer before he did and the sportsman gave him the OK – sort of.
A source told the outlet that ‘while the two did not necessarily agree, they emerged from the conversation with mutual respect and understanding.’
However, HOT97’s Ebro Darden took to social media to slam the report, saying that ‘Kap did not approve this bulls**t!’
Confirming that to be the truth, Kaepernick retweeted his post, alongside with another one from Darden’s girlfriend, HOT97’s Nessa, reading: ‘There is NO mutual respect, and there is NO understanding for anyone working against @Kaepernick7 PERIOD. #stoplying.’
There you have it, folks! Kaepernick is actually NOT Okay with Scott performing at the Super Bowl after all!
