Collide Singer Howie Day Was Taken Into Police Custody For Allegedly Assaulting His Ex-Girlfriend

According to a report from Page Six, the “Collide” singer was detained by the authorities following an alleged assault on his ex-girlfriend in a Manhattan hotel. The 34-year-old frontman was arraigned on Saturday in a Manhattan Criminal Court for assault charges.

The police who spoke with the publication claimed Howie, who hails from Seattle, began arguing with his ex on Friday afternoon, and he grabbed her throat, threw her around the room and subsequently put his hands around her throat.

The prosecutors claim that Howie said to the officers that he was going through a “Xanax withdrawal,” and was going to pass out soon. Consequently, the victim had to get medical attention at a hospital, and also went to the court to request a restraining order against him.

Howie is up against additional charges as well, including criminal possession of a controlled substance, assault, and criminal obstruction of breathing. He’s being held on bail of $500 and hasn’t entered a plea deal yet.

According to a report from TMZ, Howiewas arrested back in April of 2018 for an incident of a similar nature. That one was actually caught on video. Obtained by TMZ, it appeared to show the singer shoving his girlfriend of the time, Carrie Pencek – one time.

TMZ reports the tape as showing Howie throwing musical gear around, looking very upset, and slamming a car door. Consequently, Carrie got out of the vehicle in a massive panic. The police then showed up to the place of the altercation and charged him with assault in the fourth-degree.

Furthermore, the woman from last year’s altercation isn’t the same one as the female from this past weekend. Fans of the singer/songwriter know that he’s been a recording artist for over twenty years, first signing a record contract with Epic Records back in 2002.

He became known, initially, as an artist for extensive use of effects pedals and samplers while on stage as a solo artist. Day also was involved in other disputes, including an incident in 2004 when he locked a fan on the tour bus and destroyed their phone.
