Conservatve Republicans Attack Barack Obama And Hillary Clinton For Calling Sri Lanka Attack Victims 'Easter Worshippers' Instead Of Christians

The term “Easter worshippers,” which was used by both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, has caused an uproar and created a debate.

On Sunday, a terrorist attack on Easter in Sri Lanka left several hundred people dead and injured.

Obama and Clinton reacted to the horrific news with statements where they both skipped the word Christians and replaced it with “Easter worshippers” in order to pander to Muslims, according to their critics.

The former president said in a tweet: “The attacks on tourists and Easter worshippers in Sri Lanka are an attack on humanity. On a day devoted to love, redemption, and renewal, we pray for the victims and stand with the people of Sri Lanka.”

And the former secretary of state said this about the victims: “On this holy weekend for many faiths, we must stand united against hatred and violence. I’m praying for everyone affected by today’s horrific attacks on Easter worshippers and travelers in Sri Lanka.”

Many Republicans have taken social media to bash the famous Democrats for not saying it was an attack on Christians or Christianity.

Fox News host Jesse Watters slammed the pair for the term they used for the Sri Lanka bombings.

Watters said on The Five Monday: “Look at some of the leading Democrats, how they characterized it. They didn’t use ‘Christians.’ They didn’t say ‘a lot of churches.’ They actually said ‘Easter worshipers were under attack.’ You don’t call Muslims ‘Ramadan worshipers.’ You don’t call Jews ‘Passover worshipers.’ It’s a made-up phrase.”

Watters continued with: “Why did they make up phrases like this? This is one of the reasons why people don’t trust liberals because they are not in touch with reality. They do this because they are pandering to Muslims. Because a lot of liberals feel they are so upset with how other people think about them and if they are thought up to be insensitive, that drives them crazy.”

One person said about the controversy: “Thank you for calling them out on it. “Christian” is an easy word. Then again they couldn’t say “Islamic terrorism” either. #TheFive.”

Another commenter stated: “I am a devout Christian and a Republican, & I think people are making much ado about nothing. Pres. Obama & Ms. Clinton meant they were worshiping on Easter…nothing more! People choose their battles! This is nothing!!”

This voter stated: “Why are they trying to assume that there is no such thing as a Democrat that’s a Christian? Or am I missing something? I know lots of Democrats who are wonderful Christians. I’m Catholic, and they go to my church. Does the media stand a chance of alienating this group?”
