BeBe Rexha has been nominated for two Grammys but the controversy surrounding her recent outburst continues. Though Rexha is known to boldly make her opinions vocal on social media, her behavior at the Spotify pre-Grammy party has been met with mixed reactions.
On Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019, BeBe Rexha and other women nominated for the Best New Artist Grammy attended a Spotify party. During BeBe’s performance, she grew angry at the crowd for not joining in and singing along to her song “Meant to Be.” Now there is controversy on social media with some saying that BeBe doesn’t deserve a Grammy and those who support her and say her outspokenness is why they adore her.
Nominated for Best New Artist are Chloe X Halle, Luke Combs, Great Van Fleet, H.E.R., Dua Lipa, Margo Price, Jorja Smith, and BeBe Rexha.
Those who oppose BeBe Rexha have suggested that not everyone who was at the party was her fan, therefore, there may have been people who genuinely could not sing along with her music.

In addition to her Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, BeBe Rexha is also nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance with Florida Georgia Line for “Meant to Be.”
While no one knows who is going to win the coveted Best New Artist Grammy award on Sunday, many people have narrowed it down to Dua Lipa and BeBe Rexha. This is based upon their success in the past year and their chart-topping songs.
There’s no doubt that BeBe’s fan base is huge and though 2019 marks her first Grammy award nominations, she has been racking up awards and nominations since she first hit the music scene in 2010. Though Rexha isn’t new to the music industry, she released her first album Expectations in 2018.
Expectations was certified gold in both the United States and Canada.
What do you think about BeBe RExha’s outburst? Do you think it should hold her back in her music career or do you accept her outspokenness as part of her character?
