Well, it’s been almost two months since Counting On star John-David Duggar married Abbie Grace Burnett, so cue the pregnancy rumors. The newlyweds shared a Christmas pic on their joint Instagram account earlier this week, and all it took was a Bible verse in the caption for many fans to believe the couple is expecting.
In the photo, Burnett is sitting on Duggar’s lap while he wrapped his arms around her waist and she placed her hand on his chest. The two looked positively giddy about celebrating their first Christmas together as husband and wife, but it wasn’t the happy image that had fans talking.

For those unfamiliar with Christianity and the Bible, this verse is literally synonymous with Christmas. For most Christians, celebrating the birth of Jesus is an important part of the holiday. And for fundamentalist Christians, it’s the only thing.
The Duggars even hang a banner in their home that says “Happy Birthday Jesus” instead of putting up a Christmas tree.
Obviously, this is not common knowledge because as soon as Duggar and Burnett added that Bible verse about a baby being born, fans started asking if the couple was expecting.
“Are y’all expecting?” one fan wrote. “Oooh a baby hint :),” said another.
As OK! Magazine points out, the Duggars do have a history of honeymoon conceptions, with both Joy-Anna Duggar and Kendra Caldwell getting pregnant just days after tying the knot. Plus, 28-year-old John David and 26-year-old Abbie Grace are considerably older than his married siblings, and they need to catch up with the baby-making. So, a pregnancy announcement just weeks after a wedding isn’t out of the question.

Still, a Bible verse about the birth of Jesus isn’t anywhere close to a pregnancy announcement. With fans jumping to conclusions so quickly, it’s clear that they are ready for another Duggar baby.
Luckily, there were some fans that brought the voice of reason to the discussion. One follower wrote, “They’re literally quoting bible verses about baby Jesus because it was Christmas,” someone else chimed in. “Not everything is a baby hint.”
John David Duggar and Abbie Grace Burnett return in mew episodes of Counting On in 2019 on TLC.
