Abby Lee Miller rose to fame for her harsh ways of training up dancers. She’s made headlines plenty of times but it seems that this may be the straw that broke the camels back.
After Abby Lee Miller posted and deleted a square for Black Out Tuesday, she was called out by a mom who alleged Abby said racially insensitive words to her daughter.
Adriana Smith said: ‘A statement from her that sticks in my mind to this day during my time on DMS8 is ‘I know you grew up in the HOOD with only a box of 8 crayons, but I grew up in the country club with a box of 64—don’t be stupid.’
After Smith made her statement, multiple other Dance Moms came forward with similar stories.
Abby issued an apology that read, in part: ‘I understand and deeply regret the way my words have affected and hurt those around me, particularly those from the Black community. To Kamryn, Adriana and anyone else I have hurt, I’m truly sorry. I realize racism can come not just from hate, but also ignorance. No matter what the cause, it’s harmful and it’s my fault.’
Adriana made it clear via social media that she doesn’t accept Abby’s apology because it was not genuine.
Now, Lifetime is severing all ties with the woman who also spent time in jail.
A virtual dance-off series that was announced in April is no longer on the channel’s lineup.
Additionally, if the Dance Moms is renewed — Miller will not be a part of it.
If Lifetime chooses to give the series another season, it would not be the first time that Abby is missing from it.
In 2017, there were installments premiered on the network while she served time in prison for 20 counts of fraud before she was released in 2018.
