It’s been almost a year since Demi Lovato’s nearly fatal overdose. And, after months of working with a sober coach, and the support from her mom Dianna De La Garza and ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama, the singer has turned her life around and remains sober.

The Sorry, Not Sorry singer is lucky to be alive after last summer’s overdose, and she knows it. Lovato promised fans that she would get help, and she immediately went to treatment after she was released from the hospital.

However, once she left treatment in August 2018, she started dating Henry Levi, a fashion designer known for his hard partying, and that was a major concern for De La Garza. The romance only lasted a few weeks, and when it ended Lovato went back to rehab.

“Dianna is just so glad that Demi finally came to her senses and got rid of Henri,” an insider told Radar Online, adding, “She is doing really well now! For the first time in a long time, her friends and family are not worried about her one bit because they know she’s in good hands.”

The source says that De La Garza is keeping her 26-year-old daughter in check, and acting as her manager, publicist, and assistant. Lovato got more than her mother’s love during her dark time, she also got a ton of support from Valderrama who has been sober for years.

The former That 70s Show star is essentially part of the family, says the insider, and he grew close to De La Garza and other members of Lovato’s clan when she was in treatment.

They would love to see him and Lovato start dating again, but currently, his role is that of messenger between the singer and her loved ones, which everyone appreciates.

Demi Lovato and Valderrama were together for six years before they split in June 2016, and they remain extremely good friends. She recently surprised fans when she popped up on his Instagram live stream, where the two had a fun conversation.

The exes told each other that they looked awesome before singing a snippet of Who Let the Dogs Out. Then, they implied they would hang out later in the week.

“Demi always hoped they would end up back together in the future,” says an insider. “He’s the love of her life and vice versa.”
