Dolly Parton is coming to Netflix with a new movie that is a musical called Christmas on the Square. The movie follows the release of Dolly’s first Christmas album in 30 years — “A Holly Dolly Christmas.” The movie’s title track is on the new Christmas album, and Christmas on the Square will feature 14 original songs. Fans are thrilled for the upcoming Dolly Parton Christmas movie that will premiere and begin streaming on November 22, 2020.

Dolly Parton will play an angel who must teach a scrooge-like woman named Regina Fuller the true meaning of Christmas. Regina is played by Christine Baranski. Also joining the cast will be Jenifer Lewis as Magdalene, Treat Williams as Carl Pellam, Vivian Nixon as Bessie, and more. Fame’s and Grey’s Anatomy Debbie Allen directs the movie.

Netflix released the following description regarding the upcoming movie.

A rich and nasty woman, Regina Fuller, returns to her small hometown after her father’s death to evict everyone and sell the land to a mall developer – right before Christmas. However, after listening to stories of the local townsfolk, reconnecting with an old love, and accepting the guidance of an actual angel, Regina starts to have a change of heart. This is the story about family, love, and how a small town’s Christmas spirit can warm even the coldest of hearts. Starring Dolly Parton, Christine Baranski, Jenifer Lewis, Treat Williams, and directed and choreographed by three-time Emmy and Golden Globe winner Debbie Allen. Featuring 14 original songs by Dolly Parton.
