Dolly Parton Sings And Is Honored At The Grammys, But Guess What She Said About '9-5'

There’s a new host and a new diversity team at the 61st Grammys and while there has been a heavy focus on honoring the legends of R&B, there was an amazing tribute to Dolly Parton who made her return to the Grammys’ stage. For many though, what caught people’s attention occurred before Dolly’s performances and honor.

Speaking to ET, Dolly Parton revealed that there is a 9-5 sequel in the works and they are making sure everyone is on board then it is time to get the script ready.

Dolly said the following.

“Well, actually, we’re supposed to get the script any day now. Once we all sign off on it, I guess we’ll start making plans to film it.”

The news went viral and when Dolly and special guests performed 9-5 live on stage, it was clear that many people love the original movie and are ready for a sequel.

Though people were excited about the news, what everyone is talking about is the music performances and tribute that took place.

Anna Kendrick introduced the segment and both Katy Perry (who is a huge Dolly fan) and Kacey Musgraves took the stage to sing the song “Here You Come Again.” While they were singing, Dolly Parton came out and joined them.

The next moment is certain to be a viral trend this week. Miley Cyrus and her godmother Dolly Parton performed “Jolene” live and it was everything these fans could have dreamt it would be.

After Miley and Dolly performed together, nominee Maren Morris joined for one of the most beautiful and harmonious versions of “After the Gold Rush.”

The moment was incredibly special as Dolly and Miley were able to perform on the Grammy stage together and it sure to be a memory both will treasure for the rest of their lives.

Dolly teamed up with Little Big Town for the song “Red Shoes” which was featured in the new Netflix movie Dumplin’. Dolly Parton’s tribute concluded with everyone taking the stage again to sing “9-5.”
