As he was wrapping up his This Is America tour, Donald Glover opened up about something very personal and painful – his father’s passing. Here’s what the rapper and actor told his audience while on stage.
The moment the artist also known as Childish Gambino got candid was caught on camera by a concertgoer who then shared the footage on Reddit.
‘I lost my father a couple weeks ago. I wanted to play him some of the new songs… But he did not want to hear ’em, ’cause he was like, ‘I know they will be great,’’ the man said.
Glover went on to perform Riot, off his newest album, Awaken, My Love, song that he dedicated to his dad.
After all, as he shared with Billboard back in 2016, it was Donald Glover Sr. who had exposed him to the genre.
His dad was super supportive all the time and also very proud of his singer, actor and director son as he loved to show it on his Twitter account – @DonaldsDad. How adorable is that?
It’s safe to say that it is a very painful loss for Donald Glover since he and his dad were just so close.
Not to mention that the man has another very packed year waiting for him and his busy schedule will not let him mourn properly.
As fans know, Glover has dropped new music, went on tour and shot Guava Island, a movie with Rihanna that is yet to be released, and has many more projects in the works.
Rest in Peace, Donald Glover Sr. AKA @DonaldsDad.
