In a strange twist of events, the Donald Trump administration is boosting its efforts to investigate the private e-mails of Hillary Clinton, a story that has been developing for several years now, pretty much since the 2016 election, which Trump won.

There has been a lot of speculation over the president’s decision to revive that investigation. Still, many speculate that it is a thinly-veiled attempt to shake attention off of himself in light of the recent controversy that has been surrounding him.

It is no secret that Trump is in hot water right now, with the recent impeachment inquiry looming over his head because of the Ukraine and China scandals.

At the same time, Trump has been known for using this tactic for quite a while now — distraction is one of his main strategies, after all.

With that in mind, it would be no surprise if the investigation into Clinton’s e-mails turned out to be nothing but a front to cover up his problems.

In any case, it looks like some are still interested in learning more about Clinton’s e-mails, and Trump is far from alone in his desire to look into his opponent’s old exchanges.

There has been a lot of speculation about the possible contents of the messages, with many people noting that Clinton might have a bit more to hide than most imagine.

Still, others have been very critical of the situation and Trump’s approach to it, noting that the president was not acting appropriately for someone in his position. In the end, though, it is not Trump’s style to worry about that.

Recently, Clinton slammed Trump by saying: “I believe he knows he’s an illegitimate president. He knows. He knows that there were a bunch of different reasons why the election turned out the way it did. And I take full responsibility for those parts of it that I should. It was like applying for a job and getting 66 million letters of recommendation, and losing to a corrupt human tornado. And so, I know that he knows that this wasn’t on the level. I don’t know that we’ll ever know everything that happened.”

She added: “But clearly, we know a lot and are learning more every day. And history will probably sort it all out. So, of course, he’s obsessed with me. And I believe that it’s a guilty conscience (insomuch as he has a conscience).”
