It was announced on Tuesday that the Chicago prosecutor had declined to press charges against Jussie Smollett, the actor who was accused of staging a fake hate crime against himself on the streets of Chicago during the hours of the early morning.
It all started back in January when Jussie claimed to have been attacked by two masked men who shouted “Make America Great Again” at him while also hurling racial epithets. At first, celebrities and entertainers came out in support of the actor, but on social media, the opinions were a lot different.
For the most part, there was widespread disbelief regarding Jussie’s story, which had a plethora of holes in the narrative, including the idea that the two men carried a noose with them in an attempt to hang him in the streets. Moreover, it occurred in a middle-upper class area of Chicago, known for its liberal views.

Social media commenters and content creators in alternative media were asking for the prosecutor to press charges, as were the Chicago police department, who claims to have had devastating evidence against the actor.
After he was charged with 16 felonies, which some rightly called “prosecutorial overkill,” the state officials suddenly decided to drop all charges without explanation. He was never “exonerated;” the charges were merely dismissed.
Now, President Trump is calling for the Federal Bureau of Investigation to look into the Empire star’s case. This week, the police commander, the superintendent, and the Chicago mayor were infuriated when Smollett got off scot-free.
On Thursday, Trump said on Twitter that the case of Jussie Smollett was a massive “embarrassment” to the nation. He requested the FBI and the DOJ to review the case. Jussie’s lawyers claim that the two men who said they had been paid to attack him are lying.
It was reported that the two Nigerian-American men, who happened to be brothers, knew Jussie personally and the actor had asked them personally to help him stage the attack. Nevertheless, this case has proved to be one of the strangest so far in 2019.
