Donald Trump Shockingly Backs Colin Kaepernick's Rehiring 'If He Deserves It'

The protests against police violence in America is sparking immediate change. In addition to signing a new bill holding police officers accountable for their actions, Donald Trump is also changing his stance on whether Colin Kaepernick, the man behind the silent protest by way of kneeling, should be able to return to the NFL.

Colin, along with other football players, came under immense scrutiny when they knelt during the National Anthem as a way of bringing attention to police brutality and systemic racism.

While Colin was blackballed, other players who followed in his footsteps were fined.

Trump infamously has been against the silent protesting by twisting it into a narrative that tries to claim the activist was ‘disrespecting’ the brave men and women who have served in the military. The president went on to suggest that anyone who kneels should be fired.

However, in a new interview — Donald has seemingly changed his tune (on Kaepernick’s employment status with the NFL at least).

When asked if he thinks the 32-year-old should be rehired, the former reality star said: ‘If he deserves it, he should. If he has the playing ability. He started off great, and then he didn’t end up very great in terms of a player. He was terrific in his rookie year. I think he was very good in his second year. And then something happened. So his playing wasn’t up to snuff. The answer is absolutely I would. As far as kneeling, I would love to see him get another shot. But obviously he has to be able to play well. If he can’t play well, I think it would be very unfair.’

This is nearly a 180 from his statement in 2017 where he wished that NFL owners would tell coaches to ‘get that son of a b**** off the field right now’ when they took a knee.

Not long ago, he criticized Drew Brees for changing his stance on the issue.

However, any progress is progress.
