Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein were once close friends who socialized together on numerous occasions, according to the president himself.

However, this week, the former reality TV star is working hard to cut all associations with the 66-year-old hedge fund manager.

The billionaire has been hit with a long list of charges including sex trafficking and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking.

Trump is fighting with the media after one of his own interviews dating from 2002 has come back to haunt him.

POTUS spoke about Epstein and called him a “terrific guy” who liked girls on the young side: “I’ve known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”

The New York Times is also reporting that Trump and Epstein took part in parties where they were the only two male guests along with 28 women.

Trump was quizzed about the allegations against his former friend, and he was quick to throw him under the bus. The real estate mogul said: “I knew him like everybody in Palm Beach knew him; he was a fixture in Palm Beach. I had a falling out with him a long time ago. I don’t think I’ve spoken to him for 15 years. I wasn’t a fan.”

The president also spoke his labor secretary, Alex Acosta, who is rumored to be leaving his post after it was confirmed that as U.S. Attorney, he made it possible for Epstein to receive a sweetheart deal.

Trump stated: “I feel very badly for Secretary Acosta. I can tell you that for two and a half years he has been just an excellent Secretary of Labor. he’s done a fantastic job. Part of it is our economy is so good, our numbers at record lows paid so many good things happening. The fact is he’s been a very good Secretary of Labor.”

Former Vice President Joe Biden and many Democrats have called on Acosta to resign.

Biden said: “The abuse of a child is one of the most heinous, despicable abuses of power imaginable. It is inexcusably poor judgment for a US Attorney to seek leniency for someone guilty of it. Secretary Acosta should provide his resignation immediately.”
