Donald Trump would like if female reporters were more like ‘50s housewives, it seems. The current president continued his attacks on journalists Weijia Jiang and Paula Reid after they questioned his poor response to the scary COVID-19 crisis in the country.

That being said, this time around, he suggested that they were ‘angry’ and definitely ‘not Donna Reed.’

In other words, he would love it if they were more complacent, just like a housewife from the 1950s despite the fact that they are doing their jobs as journalists. Sexist much?

While this sort of misogynistic comments are not something new with Trump, it feels like he’s trying really hard to be offensive more than usual lately to distract people from the pandemic!

He was chatting with The New York Post about his back and forth with journalists during one of his coronavirus press briefings when he singled out these two female reporters.

‘It wasn’t Donna Reed, I can tell you that. Paula Reid, she’s sitting there and I say, ‘How angry. I mean, What’s the purpose?’ They’re not even tough questions, but you see the attitude of these people, it’s like incredible,’ he stated about Weijia Jiang and Paula Reid.

In case you don’t know who Donna Reed is, she played a mother and housewife in The Donna Reed Show, a sitcom that aired in the 50s and 60s.

Sure enough, the character embodied the image of the quintessential 50s woman – her hair always styled and makeup done all the while being the mom of well behaved kids and a wife who all but worshiped her husband.

Sure enough, she would always keep the house spotless and make dinner for her man every evening with a smile on her face.

In reality, however, the stereotypical housewife role was nothing like the actress was in real life.

Reed produced her own work, was a philanthropist, as well as an anti-war activist that knew how to use her voice in Hollywood.

Naturally, Trump has no idea about any of these things since the version of Reed he was talking about was her role on the family sitcom.
