Drew Brees Schools Donald Trump On Why He Apologized For Saying Taking A Knee Is Disrespectful

When Colin Kaepernick took a knee in 2016, he made it very clear what his intentions were. Drew Brees came under fire earlier this week after he said he would never support anyone disrespecting the flag, he has changed his stance — much to the dismay of Donald Trump.

NFL players joined their colleague Colin by taking a knee during the singing of the National Anthem at football games. Colin was later released from his team and has since been blackballed by the industry.

There are many people who made a silent and peaceful show of activism about systematic racism and police brutality about things that it wasn’t. The major point of the anti-kneeling party was that it was disrespectful to the men and women who serve this country in the military.

This is what Drew’s point was during an interview that brought up the potential of kneeling coming back once the season starts.

After being school by fellow New Orleans Saints players and many people on social media, Brees admitted that he was wrong and he now sees the message behind the movement.

Donald, who is a huge fan of the player, took to his favorite social media website to say: ‘I am a big fan of Drew Brees. I think he’s truly one of the greatest quarterbacks, but he should not have taken back his original stance on honoring our magnificent American Flag. OLD GLORY is to be revered, cherished, and flown high.’

He went on to say there should not be any kneeling.

No one was surprised that Trump doubled down on his stance but many were when Brees took the time to address him via an open letter where he stood strong on his apology.

‘To @realdonaldtrump Through my ongoing conversations with friends, teammates, and leaders in the black community, I realize this is not an issue about the American flag. It has never been. We can no longer use the flag to turn people away or distract them from the real issues that face our black communities. We did this back in 2017, and regretfully I brought it back with my comments this week. We must stop talking about the flag and shift our attention to the real issues of systemic racial injustice, economic oppression, police brutality, and judicial & prison reform. We are at a critical juncture in our nation’s history! If not now, then when?’

He went on to ask the white community to help the black community by acknowledging the problems and finding solutions.
